As you know from my previous article “Chakras and The Endocrine System”, each of the seven energy centers is associated with a specific organ, endocrine system, emotional reaction, and spiritual concern as an individual. When we talk about chakra balancing, we may refer to various techniques and meanings. But the common misunderstanding of the chakra healing techniques is opening/closing chakras. Let’s stop here for a second. Chakras are not open or closed.

You should understand that chakras are like wheels or vortexes of energy, so that means they can’t ever be fully closed. However, energy can get stuck and cause blockages. And there might be a lot of things that can cause blockages, such as lack of exercise and stress, or depression and addiction. Emotional blocks can be more difficult to identify. Not properly processed feelings and emotions can be accumulated in the body. Instead, of “opening and closing” let us focus on balancing the chakras. Balancing is the process through which the energy of the chakras is brought to a well functioning and harmonious state.

1.Take a close look to Your Dreams

Your dreams are one of the ways with which your subconscious speaks to you. When you ignore your intuitive whispers, the third eye chakra becomes imbalanced. Make some notes of your dreams and see how you’re being guided. Your physical senses can give you clues as to how to follow your intuition. For example, have you ever had the feeling that something like a voice inside you, is giving you hints? And in the end we all the time saying: – I felt it was going to happen! Intuition is all about recognizing the signs. Notice the little messages you’re receiving overtime to see the big picture.

One of the powerful tools used for Chakra healing is affirmations. Remember that, everything we see or touch started as a thought. Whatever you can think, you can create, and positive affirmations will help you with that. Affirmations are positive statements that have the function of strengthening and healing damaged part of ourselves. When working with affirmations, we can focus on various aspects, one at a time. Here are some examples of affirmations for different Chakras:

  1.  The Root Chakra – ” I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents”
  2. The Sacral Chakra – “I am radiant, beautiful and strong and enjoy a healthy and passionate life”
  3. The Solar Plexus – “Happiness is a choice. I base my happiness on my accomplishments and the blessings I’ve been given”
  4.  The Heart Chakra – “Love is the answer to everything in life, I give and receive love unconditionally”
  5. The Throat Chakra – “My thoughts are positive, and I always express myself truthfully and clearly”
  6. The Third Eye Chakra – “Everything that is happening now is happening for my ultimate good”
  7. The Crown Chakra –  “I am complete and one with the divine energy”.

3.Essential Oils

Inhaling the aromas from essential oils can stimulate areas of your limbic system, which is a part of your brain that plays a role in emotions, behaviors, sense of smell and long-term memory.

Interestingly, the limbic system is heavily involved in forming memories. This can partly explain why familiar smells can trigger memories or emotions

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavor, or “essence,” of their source. They can be inhaled or applied to the skin. Essential oils resonating at a particular frequency and can be used to balance chakras. Below is a list of recommended oils for each Chakra:

  • 1st Chakra: Cedarwood, Myrrh, Patchouli, and Frankincense
  • 2nd Chakra: Jasmine, Rose, Sandalwood
  • 3rd Chakra: Lemon, Ylang Ylang, Peppermint, Bergamot
  • 4th Chakra: Melissa, Rosewood, Basil and Rose
  • 5th Chakra: Myrrh, Sage and Blue chamomile
  • 6th Chakra: Hyacinth, Violet, Rose geranium
  • 7th Chakra: Lavender, Frankincense, Rosewood

4.Crystal Healing

Crystals work on the same principle as chakras. They resonate at different frequencies. They can help you tap into your natural self-healing abilities, promoting physical and mental well-being. Humans have used stones for healing and energetic purposes for thousands of years; sacred Indian texts explain specific properties of different crystals and how to use them to treat illnesses, as well as for protection and healing; Greeks and Romans used crystals for protection in battle.

How to find “your” crystal?

Each crystal filled with their healing abilities for the mind, body, and soul. For example, Rose quartz is known as the ‘love crystal’. This stone is commonly used for attracting and keeping love, as well as protecting relationships. Or if you’re seeking more stability and calm in your life, amethyst is one of the best intention crystals for relieving stress and bringing balance back into your life. I’m usually recommending to go to the Crystal Shop, look at all selection and from there, just let your intuition choose what’s best for you. Whether a crystal catches your eye or you can feel a physical pull toward one – take it!. Once it’s picked out, you can create the connection you need.

 Make sure to :

– “charge” your crystals by letting it sit in a sunny window sill or outside in direct sunlight or moonlight.

 – “clean” your crystals. This is a spiritual ritual by which inappropriate energies can be neutralized and crystals re-energized. Once you got your crystal – clean it. You can choose one of the following methods:

  • Hold them under running water;
  • Ring a bell over them;
  • Leave them in the sun for a couple of hours.

Using crystal during meditation

Once cleaned and tuned, position the crystals on or near the chakras( Check the crystals which relate to each chakra ). Lie down and follow a smooth meditation to allow the vibrations from the crystal to energize the chakra.

Using crystals in daily life

You can wear jewelry, just place them at home, or use to energize the water you drink. They will create the vibrancies you need.

  • 1st Chakra: Hematite, Tigers eye, Bloodstone
  • 2nd Chakra: Citrine, Carnelian, Golden topaz
  • 3rd Chakra: Aventurine Quartz, Sunstone, Yellow Citrine
  • 4th Chakra: Watermelon Tourmaline, Rose quartz, Emerald
  • 5th Chakra: Lapis lazuli, Turquoise, Aquamarine
  • 6th Chakra: Amethyst, Fluorite, Azurite
  • 7th Chakra: Amethyst, Clear Quartz, Diamond

5. Color Therapy
Colors are all around us. They’re in nature, homes, cars, clothes. Colors aren’t just meaningless parts of our environment. They can change the way we feel and react to different situations. Color therapy uses colors to heal, energize, and soothe us. Allow your intuition to guide you in choosing what colors to wear. Do an interesting exercise: Try to notice which color do you see the most during the day. For example, if it’s a red color, so you should put more attention to your Root Chakra. Our energy centers all have a particular frequency that resonates with certain colors that carry a similar frequency.

6.Chakra sounds. Bija mantra meditation

1. Root Chakra (Muladhara)
Color: Red

Mantra: LAM

2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

Color: Orange

Mantra: VAM

3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

Color: Yellow

Mantra: RAM

4. Heart Chakra (Anahata)

Color: Green

Mantra: YAM

5. Throat Chakra (Visshuddha)

Color: Blue

Mantra: HAM

6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

Color: Indigo

Mantra: SHAM

7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

Color: Purple / White

Mantra: OM

“Bija” means seed. The Bija mantras are one-syllable seed sounds that, when said aloud, are activating the energy of the chakras and making a purification process for the mind and body. When you speak the bija mantras, you resonate with the energy of the associated chakra, which helps you to focus upon your instinctive awareness of your body and its needs.

Psychologists have discovered that the brain cannot differentiate between what is real and what is realistically imagined. There are many benefits to be derived from taking part in regular meditations and guided visualizations. Calming the mind automatically calms the body, helping to reduce stress and allowing the physical self to rebalance. It’s better to meditate on all the chakras to bring the entire system into balance. With time and experience, you’ll get better at detecting individual imbalances and directing your meditation to focus on particular chakras.

To get started, all you need to do is find a peaceful place where you won’t be disturbed for at least a half-hour. Sit comfortably on the floor with your legs crossed in front of you (or lay down on the floor if it feels better). While sitting, hold your spine erect but not stressed. Put your hands on your knees, palms upwards. Breathe deeply and consciously. What you can do is visualize each chakra and chant the bija mantras, either one at a time or in sequences. Repetition can help you access a meditative state.

7. Physical Exercises – Yoga

With the exception of the Third Eye chakra, which, because of its nature, responds mental discipline, there are physical exercises for each chakra. Those movements have been developed down the ages as a way of stimulating physical activity, a necessary focus for proper breathing and meditative state to boost the spirit. Yoga is a safe discipline, which anyone can practice, yoga asanas help to awaken the whole body, internally and externally. These asanas will help you to release any tension, physical or mental.

  1.  The Root Chakra –  Bridge Pose or Setu Bandhasara
  2. The Sacral Chakra – Bound Angle Pose
  3. The Solar Plexus – Boat Pose
  4.  The Heart Chakra – Locust Pose or Salabhasana
  5. The Throat Chakra – Supported Shoulderstand or Salamba Sarvangasana
  6. The Third Eye Chakra – Meditation-Visualization
  7. The Crown Chakra –  Headstand or Sirsasana (Child pose for beginners )

In fact, multiple studies have shown that yoga helps to reduce high blood pressure; makes a significant increase in lung capacity and respiration; improves the ability to resist stress. When we are physically well it is much easier to deal with mental and emotional challenges and yoga is a very precious way of achieving that total well-being.
